Hello ONEin3 Readers,
The 2010-2011 ONEin3 Mayor’s Advisory Council has been working over the last 4 months to put together meaningful problem-solving efforts that will improve life for ONEin3ers like you. Featured in today’s update: the dynamo Civic Engagement subcommittee!
The remarkably on-top-of-s*!% Civic Engagement team has covered a lot of ground in its first few months. Its members have sought out a nationally recognized set of parameters for defining civic engagement: Social Connection, Political Action, Belonging to a Group, Volunteering and Service, and Working with Neighbors. They have also investigated the civic engagement profiles of other desirable cities from DC to Seattle. Having gathered all that information, their mission is nothing less than to see Boston realize its potential to be the nation’s Civic City, with the City itself serving as a more prominent portal to civic engagement opportunities of all kinds.
The Civic Engagement subcommittee’s next step is to take the pulse of ONEin3ers and gauge the present level of civic activity amongst us. You can help them by filling out the survey HERE. It’ll take just a couple of minutes, and your input will help to shape their recommendations to the Mayor later in the year. Here’s your chance to get civic-engaged straightaway
Have you found a meaningful connection to Boston through a volunteering opportunity or other mode of civic engagement? Please post to the comments!
