Reach Out and Read Non-Gala - Join the Committee!

Reach Out and Read is an amazing organization that partners “with doctors to prescribe books and encourage families to read together.” Cool right?

Its importance is even clearer when you realize that “34% of American children entering kindergarten today lack the basic language skills they need to learn to read.  Almost all of those children never catch up and therefore, are 4 times more likely to drop out of school.”

Another of our favorite organizations, ReadBoston, focuses on bridging the gap and making sure our young children read at grade level.

So, we encourage you all to take a look at what Reach Out and Read does and find ways to get involved.

And guess what? We have a way for you to get involved RIGHT NOW!

On April 8th, Reach Out and Read is throwing the 5th Annual Read, Romp + Rock event at WGBH headquarters. Music, dinner, raffles, dancing, the whole nine yards. To make sure the “non-gala” goes off without a hitch, Reach Out and Read has put out the call for committee members.

So, if you like parties and early childhood literacy or really just one of them, go help out! All you really need to do is invite your friends and help get sponsors and raffle items. Easy!

For more info on the requirements, drop an email to [email protected]

We’ll see you at the party!
