“The Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) works to present outstanding contemporary art in all media to people of all ages and from all parts of Boston and beyond.  In addition, the ICA is dedicated to engaging the youth of Boston in the arts through its many teen programs, one of which, the Teen Arts Council, I currently serve as co-Lead instructor for. The Teen Arts Council is a group of motivated high school teens that develops and promotes creative programming at the ICA to connect teens to contemporary art  and each other.  In the process, our Teen Arts Council members learn critical interpersonal and professional skills around public speaking, leadership, community engagement and event planning.  We believe that Boston’s greatest potential lies in its youth and that engaging and investing in them is the best way to better the city both now and in the future.  Our goal as a program is to create strong, responsible future ONEin3ers with an appreciation for art, culture and community.”

“Main Street Partners (MSP) works with small businesses throughout Boston to identify areas for improvement, develop solutions, and help the business owners with implementation.  I am a project leader with MSP and lead teams of 4 - 5 volunteer consultants on any given project to provide the owners the resources and tools necessary to improve their businesses, increasing revenues by an average of 50%.

As a project leader, I like tracking the businesses after each project ends and seeing the improvements each owner has made.  One business owner told me that she consistently utilized the financial tool we created for her, that her business confidence went up significantly, and she had a meaningful increase in revenues.  Another owner that I worked with had opened up a second storefront during our project and was able to share stories of its success with me after the project was completed.  I’m excited to continue to see MSP grow and help additional businesses in the Boston area and be involved in the coming years.”

“The MSPCA is focused on protecting animals and giving them the best quality of life. I participate in their foster care program, providing homes for cats that are not quite ready for adoption.

I’m proud to have helped over 100 cats in the last few years. It’s been incredibly rewarding to meet cats with all different circumstances. My current fosters are 2 month old kittens, Joe and Gifford. They were found stranded on Castle Island in a taped up child’s shoe box. Giving them free reign to run around my home is such an easy way of giving back.”

“When I was growing up, my parents owned a small business. They were pillars of our community before something like ‘corporate citizenship’ was a thing. When I opened my own restaurant I tried to follow their example of being a responsible small business person. Whether it’s pursuing environmental goals through efficiency and recycling programs or by giving back to our community, everyday I try to make our neighborhood a better place.  I am proud to live and work in the North End and proud to be #BOSTONMAde.”
